Chicago-area Acupuncturist Seeks to Educate Public About Uses of Acupuncture
Anatoliy Pak, LAc has taken the traditional Chinese art of acupuncture to relieve any type of pain more quickly and without harsh or dangerous side effects common to Western treatments with pharmaceuticals which can cause digestive, cardiovascular, or kidney problems.

CHICAGO, IL, January 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When someone has a broken leg, in most cases, that person goes to a doctor to seek medical attention. However, what do we do when we are in good - if not perfect - health? We ignore our doctors and other healthcare providers while counting our blessings for our wellbeing.

That's the thinking that Anatoliy Pak, Licensed Acupuncturist and Founder of Healing Arts of Oriental Medicine in Deerfield, Ill., wants to change.
"Western Medicine helps people when they are already in trouble," Mr. Pak said. "In Oriental Medicine, we try to emphasize prevention, as much as treatment of disease, which brings us to a holistic, integrative approach."

In addition to the symptoms, the holistic approach also addresses lifestyle, diet and mental-psycho-emotional wellness. By addressing these aspects of human life, this treatment provides long lasting results because the body is able to withstand pathogenic, sickness-inducing factors. Ultimately, it comes to a more practical point: the more you wait, the harsher/longer the treatment will be.

Mr. Pak admits that in many cases like bones fracture or heart attack, the best thing to do is to seek attention of western medicine doctor. But to relieve stress, manage chronic or acute pains, or simply find an alternative to taking numerous medications, acupuncture is the way to go.
It's a common practice among acupuncturists in the US to treat patients once a week. However, the more patients Mr. Pak treats, the more he realizes that once a week is not working. For the alleviation of a serious problem, one must be more aggressive in the frequency of treatments.

Although he feels there is a clear need for repeat visits, Mr. Pak said that he can relieve any type of pain - a back injury, an illness, or a headache - after the first treatment.
Because Acupuncture is both effective and safe, it is slowly becoming more widely accepted in the Western world.

"If patients are healthy," Anatoliy Pak said, "They may only need to be seen a few times per season, to help the body go through seasonal changes."
With only one or two treatments for specific pains, Mr. Pak can virtually eliminate all the pain the patient feels. One of his patients, S.S., had back surgery more than a decade before going to see Mr. Pak and had been in pain ever since:  "The acupuncture immediately stopped the pain I was having along my side and lower back," S.S. said.
