Russian-Born Doctor Helps Disabled Lead Healthier, More Normal Lives in California
Dr. Dimitri Rimsky works with California State University to gain acceptance of and advance the use of Suit Therapy to aid the treatment and recovery of people with neurological disorders in the United States.

ENCINO, CA, November 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What happens if a family member is involved in an automobile accident or suffers a stroke? What if you child is born with Cerebral Palsy? Where do you turn?

At the Neu-Wellness Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Institute, founder Dimitry Rimsky provides hope to families that have endured circumstances such as these. His passion for helping people with neuromuscular and developmental disorders makes Neu-Wellness the first choice when selecting a clinic to provide a long-term strategy for a life-time commitment.

"We are committed to providing the best physical, occupational and speech therapy experience with the highest quality of care for optimal results," Rimsky said.

Dr. Rimsky's team at Neu-Wellness consists of experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated professionals who are willing to find answers and solutions to questions you may have about your loved one.

"Our method is based on intensive therapy approach - a three week/four hours a day sessions," Dr. Rimsky said, "which allows us to create a highly individualized, unique program for every patient, to fine-tune treatment modalities most suitable in this particular case."

What is Suit Therapy?

Dynamic Proprioceptive Correction, or Suit Therapy, was developed in Russia initially to counteract weightlessness in space suits in the late 1980s by providing elastic resistance to movement.

It is this resistance to movement which causes Suit Therapy to be received so well as a treatment throughout Russia and Europe. Focused on improving sensory stimulation and providing patients with the ability to stand and move with resistance, Suit Therapy allows a person to learn movement in addition to standing postures and balancing strategies.

What makes Neu-Wellness Institute different?

With the integrated approach to overall recovery/coping strategies and the amount of time Dr. Rimsky spends with each patient, patients receive the best care available.

From the suit therapy to the "Spider Cage," to Biofeedback and Aquatic Therapy, the latest technologies and sciences are used to assist the patient in recovery.

"Suit therapy and whole body vibration were developed as a part of the Russian Space Program and are focused on improving sensory stimulation and providing patients with the ability to stand and move through suit therapy resistance," Rimsky said.

He serves as the leading physical therapist at Neu-Wellness though having graduated with a Medical Doctor Degree from Urals State Academy of Medicine in Russia.

In fact, Dr. Rimsky specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and did research work on 'space suit' applications with the late professor Gregory Aizikov of Moscow's Institute of Medical and Biological Problems.

Families are an integral part of the recovery of anyone with a traumatic brain injury or stroke. Rimsky realizes that fact, and spends a good portion of his time with the families of his patients.

Currently, Dr. Rimsky works with the Center of Achievement at California State University Northridge to conduct studies and publish the results regarding Suit Therapy.
