Local Doctor Takes Weight Debate on the Road
Program will increase awareness of the dangers of the obesity epidemic and its impact on the African-American community. Obesity increases the risk of developing Diabetes, Cancers,Hypertension, Heart Disease and other killers. Her message is," there is more at stake than your dress or belt size."


    NASHVILLE, TN, November 06, 2008 /Tennessee News Articles/ -- Dr. Aladraine Sands, a local primary care physician, is up to the challenge of educating the public on the importance of weight control and the medical conditions tied to their waistlines. As part of her Higher Ways to Health Program, she has joined efforts with a local church, New Wine Ministries, to increase awareness of the dangers of the growing obesity epidemic and its impact on the African- American community. During the debate, "people will discover what it will take for them to lose weight and the latest evidence of how obesity increases their risk of developing Diabetes, certain cancers, Hypertension Heart Disease and other killers." Her message is, "there is more at stake than your dress or belt size, " states Dr. Sands. "People need to know that there are effective options out there that work."

The Weight Debate is Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 am and will be held at New Wine Ministries located at 3730 Dickerson Road, Suite B, Nashville, TN. It is open to the public on a first come basis because space is very limited.
