Dog Behavior Consultant specializes in Programs that Help Families with Newborns Enjoy Their Dogs More While Experiencing Less Stress
North Carolina mother of three develops pre-baby class Dogs and Storks to provide education for families with dogs both before and after Baby arrives.

/Tennessee News Articles/ - CARY, NC, September 22, 2008 - What will happen to our dog when we have the baby? Will I have time for my dog? Will my dog understand I still love him? Will my dog be mad at me?

These were the questions posed to Jennifer Shryock which brought her to the conclusion that she needed to create Dogs and Storks - a pre-baby class for families with dogs.

"We provide education and support for families with dogs before and after Baby arrives," Ms. Shryock says. "We don't baby-proof the dog rather we teach them what we want and educate the family about dog behavior and realistic expectations."

Now, the program is available to be licensed by other dog professionals who are known as presenters all over the US and Canada. "There are some requirements before a trainer can add the credential of offering the Dogs and Storks program," Ms. Shryock said.

Among those requirements are a resume and extensive background in dog behavior and training experience.

Jen Shryock's passion:

After seeing many dogs surrendered to rescues and shelters because or a new baby, Ms. Shryock decided that there needed to be a course of educating people about doggie behavior rather than simply abandoning their pets.

The tragic stories of dogs attacking and mauling children caused her to start a blog called Dogs and Storks (www.dogsandstorks.blogspot.com) with information and links to other sites which can help families with children - both two-legged and four. "I want to provide positive and proactive options for the media to refer to that is helpful in prevention not just drama." Ms. Shryock said.
